Partner Alexandros Georgiades and associate Ioanna Sapidou attended a seminar organised by the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) in collaboration with the Competition and Consumer Protection Service of the Ministry of Energy, Commerce, Industry and Tourism, introducing the main provisions of the Consumer Rights Law N.133(I)/2013.
The Law will enter into force on 13 June 2014. It aims to implement the EU Consumer Rights Directive (2011/83/EC) and sets new rules on consumer protection on virtually every form of commercial transaction between businesses and consumers.
The seminar also included a presentation of the main provisions of Law No. 103(I)/2007 on Unfair Commercial Practices Law, which entered into force on 12 December 2007, which included practical examples of misleading and/or aggressive commercial practices.
